Everton manager David Moyes has apparently stepped up search to sign a midfielder in the wake of Manuel Fernandes eleventh hour snub to move to Valencia.

The Toffees had said in their official statement on Fernandes that they are looking to add to the squad and according to the Liverpool Echo, a move for Real Betis’ Swiss international midfielder Johann Vogel could be resurrected.

The paper also suggests that Fulham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop, who had recently claimed that he has been allowed to leave by boss Lawrie Sanchez, is also an option.

However, the report claims that the Toffees are not looking at Bolton Wanderers skipper Kevin Nolan dismissing recent rumours.

Meanwhile, Everton are set to complete the record move for Nigerian striker Yakubu as his work permit is expected today after a hearing. As such, the 24-year-old, who has joined from Middlesbrough, is expected to make the debut against Bolton on Saturday.
