Everton are speculated to be close to signing striker Nikola Zigic from Valencia and winger Shaun Wright-Phillips from Chelsea.

The Toffees, who have still been unable to add to the squad this summer, however, face competition from their Premiership rivals for the duo.

Aston Villa and Sunderland are also linked with giant Serbian Zigic, who is certain to leave the Spanish club.

Valencia vice-president Fernando Gomez: "The exit of Nikola Zigic is next (to happen).

"Now, the decision corresponds with them (Zigic and his agent) and Valencia is prepared to close the deal."

Everton boss David Moyes, according to the Belfast Telegraph, is said to be set to sign England international Wright-Phillips.

The former Manchester City star has also been linked with his old club, Portsmouth and Villa this summer. And with Real Madrid now ready to let Robinho leave for Stamford Bridge, Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has hinted that he is open to sell Wright-Phillips to trim the squad.
