Everton Dismiss Wigan’s Johnson Bid Reports

Everton have refuted reports of a £9 million bid for striker Andy Johnson from Wigan Athletic being turned down.
With the speculation on the England international’s future at the Goodison Park reaching feverish pitch, reports on Thursday had claimed that Latics boss Steve Bruce has had the opening offer rejected.
The Toffees have however, dismissed the reports, saying in a statement: “Everton have dismissed reports that they have received a bid for Andrew Johnson.
“Reports this afternoon (Thursday) claimed Wigan Athletic had been in contact with The Toffees and lodged a £9 million bid.
“The same reports said the bid had been rejected by Everton. However, officials at the club have clarified that this is not the case.”
