Striker Ayegbeni Yakubu has been granted work permit by the Home Office following a hearing on Wednesday and as such Everton have finally completed the record move. He has signed a five-year contract at Goodison Park.

The 24-year-old Yakubu will now be likely to make the Toffees debut against Bolton Wanderers at the weekend following the £11.25million move from Middlesbrough.

Yakubu had earlier been rejected the permit as he had not made the qualifying criteria after not featuring for Nigeria in the required number of international matches, following a clash with Austin Eguavoen, who coached the Super Eagles before Berti Vogts.

However, the appeal against the rejection based on the fact that Yakubu had played in England since 2003, has finally managed to get the permit.
