EURO 2008 Winner Reveals Arsenal, Juventus & Fenerbahce Snub
EURO 2008 Winner Marcos Senna has revealed that he turned down offers from Arsenal, Juventus and Fenerbahce after the tournament, with the Spanish International eventually deciding to sign a new deal with La Liga club Villarreal.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had sounded out 32-year-old Senna as a replacement for Mathieu Flamini, who left the Emirates Stadium earlier in the summer to Join AC Milan.
It been widely reported that Wenger is looking for an experienced midfielder, but will have to look elsewhere as Senna targets the La Liga title with El Submarino Amarillo next season.
“It is true that I have had offers from Arsenal, Juventus and Fenerbahce following the Euros, but I just want to stay at Villarreal where I am happiest,” Senna revealed.
“I hope this season we can fight for the Spanish title and I think I can contribute to a team that is getting better and better.
“Last season with Villarreal was incredible and then to win the European Championships was just the icing on the cake.”
