Spartak's Pavlyuchenko Set To Reject Spurs, But Favours Move To Arsenal Or Chelsea
Tottenham Hotspur target, Spartak Moscow striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has revealed that he is likely to reject a move to Spurs, with the Russian International favouring a move to London rivals Arsenal or Chelsea.
Spurs are believed to already have had an offer in the region of £10million (€12.7) rejected by Spartak and were reportedly going to go back to the Russian side with an improved bid for the forward.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is already working on bringing 26-year-old Pavlyuchenko’s Russian strike-partner Andrei Arshavin to White Hart Lane, as Spurs try to replace Robbie Keane, who has recently signed for Liverpool, and prepare for the likely departure of Bulgarian International Dimitar Berbatov.
EURO 2008 sensation Pavlyuchenko also revealed that there has been interest from La Liga and Serie A. With the forward also confirming that there are alternative offers to the one from Spurs.
Pavlyuchenko said: “They (Spurs) are a club with great tradition. But since they are not a team playing in the Champions League we (Spartak, himself and his agent) are more likely than not to reject their offer.
“I love the Premier League and I would certainly like to play there. However, if I go to England, I would want to play for Arsenal or Chelsea.
“Tottenham's offer is not the only one we have received. Some Spanish clubs have put down their interest and Italy also has a top-class league.”
