Euro 2008 Bound Sweden Star Isaksson Will Leave Premier League Side Manchester City - Fulham Linked

Manchester City, Fulham Premiership Transfer News

Sweden International keeper Andreas Isaksson is set to leave Premier League club Manchester City. It seems that there is nothing new City manager Mark Hughes can do to keep 26-year-old Isaksson at Eastlands.

When asked about Hughes’s appointment the former Rennes player said to Reuters, “I don’t really care. Hopefully, I won’t be at the club next season”.

“I want to leave the club. I said that before, and the arrival of Mark Hughes will make no difference”.

“I will not be fighting for my place or talking to the new manager about changing my mind”.

Former Blackburn Rovers boss Hughes, who left Ewood Park to replace former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who left by mutual consent after just one season in charge.

Isaksson also maintains that he is a free agent, something disputed by the Premiership club, who said today that there is still a year to run on the deal signed in 2006.

Linked with a move to Fulham in both the Swedish and English media, the player has said that there has been no contact with any clubs and was focusing solely on EURO 2008.

Manchester City will now have to look for a new goalkeeper to provide competition for new England International Joe Hart.
