Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor has lashed out at reports claiming that he opted to move away from Arsenal because he was denied a hefty new contract.

There were several reports claiming that Adebayor wanted out of the Emirates side after he was denied an £80,000 per week new contract.

However the striker said he has no qualms with the Gunners and is happy to stay on.

"I am very happy here. Reports which suggest I have threatened to quit are rubbish," said Adebayor in a statement. "I love the club and the fans.

"We have a great set of players here with a fantastic team spirit. We have had a good season, but next year we want to go one better by winning a trophy."
