Dutch Midfielder Daniel De Ridder Reunites With Steve Bruce After Signing 3-Year Deal With Wigan
Dutch midfielder Daniel De Ridder, whose contract was cancelled by Birmingham City yesterday, has today signed a three year deal with Wigan Athletic.
Wigan boss Steve Bruce had been the man to sign him while he was manager at Birmingham and now seems delighted to be once again reunited with the Former Holland Under-21 international.
Ridder had a frustrating time while at St. Andrews, making just 12-first team appearances for them. However he claimed that he really excited to be working under Bruce again.
"When a manager says he wants you for his team, it is very flattering, especially when it is a big team like Wigan who are now well established in the Premier League," the Dutchman told the Latics' official website.
De Ridder has become the Latic’s first signing of the summer, but Bruce was quick to claim that he was the first of many signings to be done.
Bruce said: "Daniel is an exciting player and I'm convinced he can make an impact at Wigan.
"He has very quick feet and can pull off the unexpected, he's a player with a trick, who can go past defenders and has an eye for a pass.
"He is also versatile enough to play in a number of positions.
"It's clear we need to bring one or two new faces in this summer and we are currently chasing several targets. Watch this space."
