Liverpool have completed the signing of Italian full-back Andrea Dossena from Serie A club Udinese.

The 26-year-old left-back joins the Reds on a four-year deal, and fills the void left by the departure of John Arne Riise to Roma earlier this month.

He also becomes Rafa Benitez's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Swiss international right-back Philipp Degen.

Earlier in the summer, Dossena had said: "Liverpool are a great team, and it is great to be linked to such a famous club. I want to play Champions League football, the Reds have already won it and they often get to the big games. In England, they are on the same level as Manchester United."
