Birmingham Co-Owner David Sullivan Blames Steve Bruce For City Relegation Into Championship

Birmingham City Other English and International Football News

Birmingham City FC joint owner David Sullivan has gone on to push the blame for the clubs disastrous performance in the Premier League on former manager Steve Bruce.

According to Sullivan, Bruce brought in a number of new signings into the club and thus minimized the clubs financial resources instead of bringing in just a few high quality players.

"Where we went wrong is we brought in nine or eight players last summer and spread the limited resources we had when we'd probably have been better just signing three players and going for better-quality players," Sullivan told Sky Sports News.

"He (Bruce) thought he needed numbers - we went for numbers.

"So instead of going for quantity, we should have gone for quality some of those players have been incredibly disappointing.

After being relegated from the Premier League, Sullivan was booed by the fans and he now seems to be pushing the blame on others. He further went out to individually pull up Franck Queuedrue and held him responsible for the Blues being dropped into the Championship.

"Franck Queudrue, I will name you one. We bought a third choice goalkeeper - a complete waste of space.

"I could go right down the list and nobody has really shone out.

"We spent £2.25million on Franck Queudrue and he has been a major disappointment to the club.

"Most of what we signed last summer has been a disappointment.

"The bottom line is we didn't improve the team last summer that is where it all started what we bought last summer."
