West Ham Defender Danny Gabbidon Injured In Hammers 1-0 Win Over Sheffield United - Wales International Injures Hamstring
West Ham United have been hit by a further injury worry after Danny Gabbidon was stretchered off the pitch in West Ham's slender 1-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday.
The Welsh international defender was injured in a clash with Blades substitute Christian Nade, who had only just arrived on the pitch, with Gabbidon pulling-up injured minutes after sliding in with a well-timed tackle to deny Nade a shot on goal.
27-year-old Gabbidon was stretchered off the sidelines with a suspected hamstring injury in the 63rd minute and was replaced by George McCartney.
New West Ham United owner Eggert Magnusson was given a rousing reception at Upton Park before kick-off, with Hayden Mullins scoring the only goal of a lacklustre match when he flick-headed in Anton Ferdinand's corner from close range in the 34th minute.
The visitors pushed hard for an equaliser in the second-half, with a host of opportunities to level, but were denied by Robert Green in the West Ham goal, but The Hammers held on for a valuable win.
The hamstring injury to Danny Gabbidon means that he faces up to six weeks on the sidelines, and is likely to miss West Ham's matches over the Christmas period.
