Danish International Delighted At Everton Transfer

Everton Premiership Transfer News

Everton manager David Moyes has made his first signing of the summer by landing Danish International defender Lars Jacobsen on a free transfer from German side FC Nuremberg.

28-year-old Jacobsen had been at Nuremberg since joining from FC Copenhagen in 2007, but following the German sides relegation from the Bundesliga last season has decided to make the switch to Goodison Park on a one-year deal after passing a medical on Tuesday morning.

Jacobsen will be the Toffees first new arrival at the Merseyside club this summer after a number of players linked with Everton this summer have opted not to make the switch to the Premier League for one reason or another.

Jacobsen had been reportedly watched by Everton for a year and was delighted to have made the switch to the Premiership, with the right-back going on to reveal that there is an option to extend the one-year contract.

“I'm very happy and very relieved it ended up like this because this was the best solution,” Jacobsen told the Liverpool Echo.

“It was very good that we kept calm, it's been worth the wait.

“I met David Moyes and the players. Everton are a big club and it's a fantastic opportunity for me which I couldn't say no to.

“I'm satisfied with the one-year deal and we have the possibility to look at another one.

“It was the Premier League where I wanted to be. Everton know what they are getting, they have seen me in a lot of matches, it's up to me now.”
