Chelsea v Portsmouth – New Boy Belletti In The Blues Squad For Pompey Clash, Ashley Cole Doubtful, Shevchenko Back
Chelsea and Portsmouth, both of whom are unbeaten in the Premiership this season so far, play on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have included Brazilian right-back Juliano Belletti, who has signed from Barcelona on Thursday, in their squad as manager Jose Mourinho is happy with the 31-year-old’s pre-season work with the Catalan giants.
Left-back Ashley Cole, who pulled out for England for Wednesday’s friendly against Germany, is doubtful with a shoulder injury but striker Andriy Shevchenko is fit following a back problem.
Ricardo Carvalho is yet to recover from a thigh problem that saw the Portuguese defender miss the trip to Liverpool last weekend.
Pompey boss Harry Redknapp meanwhile is likely to have defenders Sol Campbell, Lauren and Noe Pamarot back from injury problems. The visiting side will also be boosted by midfielder Sulley Muntari coming back from his suspension.
Amongst injury doubts for Pompey are, Nico Kranjcar(foot), Gary O’Neil (ankle) and Pedro Mendes (groin).
The Blues have seven points from three matches and are second in the table while Pompey are two points below them in as many games.
Mourinho’s side will also look to stretch their Premiership record unbeaten home run to 65 after having eclipsed Liverpool’s mark of 63 with a win over Birmingham City on the opening day.
