Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho is rated doubtful for the final game of the Premiership with Avram Grant’s side facing Bolton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Portuguese international centre-back injured his back after a couple of awkward falls in 2-0 victory over Newcastle on Monday afternoon at St James’ Park where he was substituted 11 minutes from time.

And with the Blues needing to better leaders Manchester United’s result at Wigan for the title, Grant will be hoping that the experienced defender recovers in time to face the Trotters, who are all-but safe from relegation.
