Celtic To Make Offer For Chelsea's Dutch International Boulahrouz

Chelsea Premiership Transfer News

According to reports, Glasgow Celtic boss Gordon Strachan is considering making an offer for Chelsea defender Khalid Boulahrouz.

The 26-year-old Holland International joined the Stamford Bridge club from German side Hamburg SV for £8.5million in 2006, and has failed to nail down a regular first team place, making only 13 appearances for the Premier League side in his first season before being sent out on loan to La Liga outfit Sevilla last season.

Boulahrouz has recently impressed while on duty with the Holland squad at EURO 2008, but is not part of new Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari’s plans for next season.

Bhoy’s boss Strachan is keen to strengthen his squad for next term, after Celtic qualified directly for the group stages of the Champions League for the first time.

Capped 23 times for Holland, Boulahrouz has only a year left on his contract and Celtic are believed to be considering an offer of around £5million for the versatile defender, which could suit both Chelsea and the player with the prospect of Champions League football next season.

Strachan was meant to have talks with Boulahrouz, but they have been delayed due to the sad death of his baby premature daughter last week.
