Cameroon International M'Bia Latest Player To Snub Everton?
Rennes midfielder Stephane M'Bia is the latest player to be linked with a move to Everton. With it believed that the Toffees made a £6million (€7.6m) offer to bring M’Bia to Goodison Park, but the Cameroon International has decided to sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 club. La Liga’s Sevilla are also linked with the midfielder.
22-year-old M’Bia has been at Rennes since 2004, with his current contract due to run out in 2010, and the Cameroon midfielder suggested he might leave Route de Lorient next season.
“Listen, all the world knows that Everton and Sevilla are after me,” M'Bia said.
“But I have a contract with Rennes and I do understand that Rennes want to keep me.
“My contract with the club expires in June 2010, however, I am staying this year because I have a good relationship with Rennes.
“Next year maybe I will want to further my career, but I need to respect Rennes. They gave me the platform to be who I am.”
David Moyes has been frustrated in the transfer market so far this summer. With Argentine Pablo Aimar opting not to come to the Merseyside club and the deal to bring main target Joao Moutinho to Everton stalling due to the problems over the sale of Andy Johnson to Fulham.
