Brazilian Ronaldo Keeps Manchester City Option Open
Brazilian striker Ronaldo has left the option of joining Premier League side Manchester City open to combine with Robinho at the Eastlands, but admitted his main goal is to regain complete fitness.
The former Real Madrid star is set to train in Monday’s training session with Flamengo after having recovered from a knee injury that seemed to have been a big threat to his career.
The three-time Fifa World Player of the Year picked up the injury eight months back during his tenure at AC Milan and since becoming a free agent in the summer, Ronaldo’s services could be derived without any transfer fee.
According to reports, French side Paris St. Germain are interested in Ronaldo and City are believed to have lost interest after Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan took over.
"Paris is a city that I love and they have a great project to win the league title," admitted Ronaldo in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
"However, at (Manchester) City I have Robinho, who is a great friend of mine.
"But we will see, in the past few days we have spoken.
"For the time being, my only aim is to return to playing, the rest will follow.
Ronaldo also revealed his love for Flamengo in his homeland, who are hoping 'The Phenomenon' will will resurrect his career in Brazil.
"There's a great bond between Flamengo and me," said Ronaldo.
"It's the team I love. It's true that they would want me to stay. But this will remain a great dream because at this time I have no intention of making a decision."
