Bolton Get Smolarek On Loan With Option To Buy Racing Santander Forward

Bolton Wanderers Premiership Transfer News

Bolton Wanderers have taken Poland international forward Ebi Smolarek on a season-long loan deal from Racing Santander with an option to make it a permanent move.

The 27-year-old, who has been named Polish Player of the Year a record three times, was part of his country's Euro 2008 squad, but failed to score in their maiden appearance in the European showpiece event.

Smolarek, who has earned 34 international caps, had joined Racing in 2007 after spells with Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund.

Racing said in a statement on their official website: "Racing and Bolton have reached an agreement for the loan of Ebi Smolarek to the British team until 30th June 2009.

"As well as that, the English outfit have an option to buy the Polish striker."
