Reading boss Steve Coppell as dismissed reports that had claimed that Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson had made a £7million bid for Royals striker Leroy Lita.

Coppell told Reading World: "That just never happened, full stop. I've been saying all week that we've not had any bids.

"We had a few phone calls about players just asking 'what if?,' but there was hardly any of that. It's all news to me, and I never got the call yesterday."

The 23-year-old former England U-21 international has largely been on the fringes for the Royals in the first half of the season, and as such had been linked with a move out of the Madejski Stadium.
