Blackburn’s Savage, Roberts & Reid Close In On Return
Blackburn Rovers are close to having Robbie Savage and Jason Roberts back ahead of Fulham clash while Steven Reid provided a boost as he did not suffer a serious injury against Liverpool reserves and will be back in training Monday.
Midfielder Savage had undergone a minor knee surgery last month but has recovered well to keep himself on track for the London trip, where boss Mark Hughes will miss David Dunn with a suspension following his red card against Manchester United.
Striker Roberts is recovering from a thigh injury and Hughes had recently said the 29-year-old could be available for November 25 game.
Midfielder Reid had recently played in reserves after returning from lengthy layoff with hamstring problem, but suffered another setback. Luckily, a scan revealed no serious problem but is likely to delay his first team return and could be made to play in reserves outing to prove his fitness.
Chairman John Williams said in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "There was some evidence of a small nick, perhaps caused by the releasing of some scar tissue, but, as I understand it, Steven will start training again on Monday, which is great news.
"Sav also trained for the first time yesterday and he was full of it afterwards, so he should be in contention for the Fulham game."
