Blackburn’s Nelsen & Samba Best In World: Friedel

According to Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel, Ryan Nelsen and Chris Samba are the best central defenders in the world.

The 36-year-old American, who has been one of the most consistent performers in the Premiership following his move to Rovers from Liverpool in 2000, has credited Rovers skipper Nelsen and Samba as Mark Hughes’ side have only conceded nine goals in the league so far this season.

Friedel said in the Lancashire Telegraph: "I wouldn't trade our centre-backs for any others in the league, or the world, to be honest.

"The guys playing in front of me, like Ryan Nelsen and Chris Samba, are very solid and do a fantastic job in defence."
