Birmingham City have apparently, closed in on a deal for Schalke's Denmark international winger Peter Lovenkrands.

Blues boss Alex McLeish is keen to boost his side before the end of the transfer window on Thursday, and the reported £2million move could be sealed ahead of Tuesday's Premiership relegation six-pointer against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

McLeish, who had managed Lovenkrands at Glasgow Rangers in the past, has already brought David Murphy, James McFadden and Mauro Zarate to St Andrews this month.

Lovenkrands told the Daily Star on Sunday: "At the moment I don't know what is happening but I'm hoping we will sort something out soon."
