Bent & Pavlyuchenko To Fire In Partnership ‘Just A Matter Of Time’ As Spurs Eye Quick Recovery
Following suggestions from Tottenham Hotspur camp that Darren Bent and Roman Pavlyuchenko cannot play up front in tandem as they do not complement each other, the former has clarified that it is not the case and stressed that it is just a matter of time before they fire for Spurs.
England international Bent, whose future is also under speculation following his lacklustre performances, also expressed confidence that the north-London club will bounce back soon.
The season has seen Spurs making their worst start for 96 years and manager Juande Ramos is now under increasing pressure to turnaround his side’s fortunes. And one of the major problems for the White Hart Lane outfit has been the struggle in front of the goal with Bent having not been at his predatory best while Russian international and big-money summer arrival Pavlyuchenko failing to make any impact whatsoever.
“(Gus) Poyet didn’t mean that, he meant if me and Pavlyuchenko work at training it will come good,” Bent told setantasports.com.
“To be honest I would say it’s just a matter of time, it’s about getting to know each other. I won’t say we can’t play together, I would say once we start working together it will be fine.
“Anyway I think Spurs are going to bounce back soon, I have no doubt about it. We should just get one positive result to be back on the right track because we have a pretty good team.”
