Reports on Thursday have suggested Bayern Munich have trained their guns at Arsenal striker Robin van Persie after their earlier target Arjen Robben seems set to sign a five-year deal at Chelsea.

Bayern, who have sold Owen Hargreaves to Manchester United for £17m, are eyeing a revamp in the wake of a poor season in which the club finished fourth in the Bundesliga and failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

However, it seems to be a highly optimistic plan to target Van Persie given that the Gunners would not want to sell the 23-year-old Dutch international, who was the highest scorer for Arsene Wenger’s side with 13 goals until his season ended with a broken metatarsal in January.

Bayern are reportedly ready to offer £8million for Van Persie, who had joined the Gunners from Feyenoord for £2.75m in 2004 summer.

Van Persie had recently said that he is raring to go in the new season as he recovers from his long injury absence.

Bayern are dreaming. Van

Bayern are dreaming. Van Persie is not going to the Bundesliga or anywhere else. The silly season is in full swing I see, and as usual the silly chairmen of other clubs are indulging their fantasies about Arsenal players.
