Barcelona have claimed that they are intending to get hold of the French striker Thierry Henry as long as he is ready to part ways with the Gunners.

Henry signed a new deal with Arsene Wenger’s side last summer which binds him to the club for four years but since then he has been hit with a series of injuries and was frustrated when his side finished fourth in the Premiership this season and were unable to put up a decent fight for the title.

"It was pretty difficult to see once again that we finished so far away from the top teams," said Henry.

"It's always the same top four and I'm actually getting annoyed that we're finishing at the end of the top four now."

The 29-year old has been in the Barcelona teams interest for a long time now and the club officials are ready to once again approach him.

Sporting director Txiki Beguiristain told the Sunday Express: "If he has the desire to play here, then we can see if it's going to happen or not."

Last week reports were doing the rounds that Milan had shown keen interest in him and he would be intending to move over from Arsenal during the summer, however denying such a move Henry announced "Since I started playing football there has been speculation about me going to a lot of clubs and that will never, ever stop.

"But as I said, for now I'm an Arsenal player, so there is nothing to add to it."

Samuel Eto’o the Barcelona striker had said that he would be glad to have the Frenchman play along his side at the club and Lilian Thurman voiced out Eto’o’s feelings.

"It would be great if Thierry came to Barcelona," Henry's former French international team-mate Thuram told the News of the World.

"It would very good for the club because he's a great player - and for him it would be positive too because this club is ideal for him."
