Aston Villa are likely to be boosted with the return of defender Olof Mellberg to action at Arsenal on Saturday.

The Sweden international suffered an ankle injury in training and missed the 2-1 victory at Reading on Sunday.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill said on the club’s official website: "I have spoken to our doctor Roddy Macdonald, but haven't spoken to Olof myself yet.

"But Roddy is relatively hopeful that his ankle will settle down and that he will maybe be able to start training towards the end of the week."
