Arsenal v Newcastle United Premiership Preview: Fabregas Back For Gunners, Owen Set To Start For Magpies

Newcastle United, Arsenal Premiership Match Previews

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal entertain Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Wenger will be hoping the Gunners can bounce straight back from a shock 1-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage last week, but will be boosted by their easy win in their Champions League qualifier against Dutch team FC Twente in midweek.

The Magpies are unbeaten in the Premier League after an opening fixture draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford and a 1-0 win at St James’ Park against Bolton Wanderers last week. With manager Kevin Keegan eager to maintain the form which sees them in 6th place in the Premiership.

Arsenal will be missing new signing Amary Bischoff (groin), Diaby (thigh), Eduardo Da Silva (broken leg) and Tomas Rosicky (hamstring), but will be glad to welcome back influential midfielder Cesc Fabregas to the side, who could partner Samir Nasri in midfield.

Newcastle have an ever growing injury list, with Damien Duff (knee), Obafemi Martins (groin), Shola Ameobi (hamstring), Andy Carrol (ankle) and Australian International Mark Viduka (achilles) all missing for the trip to London, but will be glad that Michael Owen has returned from injury at his goalscoring best, with the former Liverpool striker scoring two in two games after coming off the bench.
