Arsenal Unrest To The Fore As Gallas Gives Away On-Field Secrets

Arsenal Premiership Player News

Arsenal captain William Gallas has revealed that Arsene Wenger’s side are divided inside and singled out a particular player for insulting the team-mates.

The Gunners have been inconsistent this season in the Premiership and have suffered four defeats – Fulham, Hull City, Stoke City and Aston Villa – while the draw to north-London rivals Tottenham Hotspur has also been like a loss as they wasted a two-goal lead in the matter of minutes in the closing stages.

After the 4-4 draw last month at home to Spurs, there were reports that there were accusations flying thick and fast with the Gunners dressing room said to have split, but manager Wenger came out and dismissed the speculation stressing they are united, passionate and want to win.

The France international defender Gallas, who has also come in for criticism for his failure in inspiring the troops, has now confirmed that all is not well in the Gunners camp.

"When, as captain, some players come up to you and talk to you about a player...complaining about him... and then during the match you speak to this player and the player in question insults us," Gallas told AP. "There comes a time where we can no longer comprehend how this can happen.

"I am trying to defend myself a bit without giving names. Otherwise I'm taking it all (the blame). It's very frustrating," said the former Chelsea player.

"I'm 31, the player is six years younger than me."

Gallas also spoke about a half-time spat that happened during the north-London derby.

"There was a problem at half-time. The only thing that I could say at half-time was, 'Guys, we resolve these problems after the match, not at half-time,'" he said.

Last season, Gallas’ show of petulance at Birmingham City draw marked a dramatic collapse of the Gunners’ title challenge, and the latest outburst from him could also result in more ill-feelings at the Emirates Stadium.
