Arsenal’s Rosicky To Undergo Operation, Misses Euro 2008

Arsenal Player Injury and Suspension News

Czech Republic have been dealt a blow as captain Tomas Rosicky is set to miss this summer’s European Championships as the Arsenal midfielder cannot avoid a surgery to cure his injury problem.

The 27-year-old has suffered an injury-troubled season with Arsene Wenger’s side, missing out since January following knee and hamstring problems. However, after waiting to avoid surgery in the comeback bid, he has now conceded that the operation is unavoidable.

"I'm not capable of starting the European Championships. My injury requires an operation - I will go for it at the start of next week," he said on BBC.

Karel Bruckner’s side face co-hosts Switzerland, Portugal and Turkey in the tournament's group stages, which begin on June7.
