Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been quoted by the Spanish press as saying that he could return to “La Liga at any time.”

The 19-year-old Spain international said: "I have never had contact with the director of Real Madrid.

"The Bernabeu is an impressive stadium. It is possible that I could return to La Liga at any time."

Fabregas was a Barcelona trainee before arriving in north London in 2003.

Fabregas, who was in Madrid for a commercial reason, had earlier said he was at Arsenal particularly for manager Arsene Wenger.

Although, he mentioned that he planned to return to Spain, Fabregas stressed that he was happy with the Gunners.

"One of the reasons why I am at Arsenal is Wenger. He (Wenger) has said that is going to fulfil his contract and I trust his word,” he had told Marca.

“I don't know what is going to happen. I don't know if they (Arsenal) are going to sell me, but I am very happy here.

“I am very bound to the coach (Wenger) and I think that he will continue.”

He continued: "I would like to return to Spanish football, but before (that) I must finish my time in England. Now, my plans are to stay in London.”

All the speculation on the future of Wenger and now Fabregas have been based on the sudden exit of Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein, who was considered close to the Gunners boss.
