Arsenal To Make Club Record Offer For Portuguese International Veloso - Manchester United & Chelsea Also Linked

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United Premiership Transfer News

Premier League club Arsenal are set to make an offer for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso according to his agent Paulo Barbosa.

The 22-year-old Portuguese International has been at Sporting since 2006, and has been linked with a host of European teams this summer, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all being linked, as well as Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is an admirer of Veloso and sees him as a tailor made replacement for Matthieu Flamini, who will be leaving the Emirates this summer for Juventus.

Veloso, who has seven caps for Portugal has a buy-out clause in his contract of £23.7million(€30m), but it is believed that Wenger is going to test the resolve of the Verde-e-Brancos with a club record transfer bid of £18million(€22.7m).

“We did not have normal contact from the Arsenal board, but from a member of the technical staff at the club," said Barbosa.

"At the moment there is not a formal offer yet, but it is possible that will happen soon”.
