Arsenal Line-up Lille’s Makoun To Replace Milan-Bound Flamini – Gunners Face Competition From Tottenham: Agent
Lille midfielder Jean II Makoun’s agent has claimed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants to take his client to the Emirates Stadium if Mathieu Flamini leaves for AC Milan in the summer.
According to reports, France international Flamini has undergone medical with Milan and is set to sign a contract.
As such, the Gunners boss seems to have lined up a swift replacement in the form of Cameroon international Makoun, who has put up impressive showings in Ligue 1 this season.
Jean-Christophe Thouvenel said in the Sun: "Makoun is on Arsenal's shortlist if Flamini leaves.
"It is planned that he leaves Lille when the season ends and moving to England is part of his objective.
"I can tell you for sure that Jean II is appreciated by Arsene Wenger.
"But the transfer period has not started yet so I will not lie — negotiations are yet to start.
"He is short and not a monster but his involvement on the pitch is huge and he is a fighter.
"He is not the only one on Arsenal's list."
The Gunners are not the only club interested in the 24-year-old as their north-London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing up the talented player.
He added: "Tottenham are also interested and I believe that (sporting director) Damien Comolli is an admirer of Jean II."
