Arsenal Boss Wenger Points Out The Difference Between Adebayor & Tottenham’s Berbatov Transfer Sagas

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur Premiership Transfer News

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has pointed out the difference between the ongoing transfer saga of Tottenham Hotspur star striker Dimitar Berbatov and the one he resolved to keep his own striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Spurs seem hesitant in letting Bulgarian international Berbatov leave for Premiership champions Manchester United, who have not matched the reported asking price of £30m. The situation is so bad that the 27-year-old is not focussed enough to play a part for Juande Ramos’ side as evident from the fact that the former Bayer Leverkusen ace was left out from last weekend’s home defeat to Sunderland after only starting on bench in the opening day’s defeat at Middlesbrough.

On the other hand, Gunners’ Adebayor was fiercely linked with the Emirates Stadium exit earlier this summer with AC Milan and Barcelona being interested as the Togo ace demanded pay rise to remain in north London. But the 24-year-old finally agreed to stay on, signing a new deal recently.

Wenger said on the club’s official website: "There is a difference. As I've said, Adebayor was committed first and he kept his word. He said if I have a choice, I want to stay and from the outside, I only read the newspaper, that doesn't look to be the case with Berbatov.

"It looks like he wants a move. So you are in a different situation. When a player says to you, I always want to stay, you are not in a situation where if he doesn't go I have a problem.

"That's what Tottenham could consider if he [Berbatov] doesn't go. Do we have a problem or not?"
