According to reports, Arsenal and Newcastle United are in competition along with many other clubs, for Fiorentina midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic.

The Sun, however, claims that Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is in the pole position to sign the 20-year-old Swiss-born Serbian international.

It is also reported that Arsenal have planned a £5m bid and their representatives are understood to have travelled to Italy.

Kuzmanovic had signed for the Serie A club last year from FC Basel. He holds a Swiss passport.
