Birmingham City Boss Alex McLeish To Maintain Patience In The Transfer Market
Although Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is aiming a re-entry into the Premiership next session, the manager has revealed that he will not be in any hurry to sign new players to strengthen his squad next season.
After having been relegated to the Championship, City have already roped in experienced midfielder Lee Carsley on a free transfer, but McLeish is not expected to rush into getting his targets to St. Andrew’s Stadium.
"It's silly season and all the agents have reappeared after being in hibernation since January," he told the club's official website.
"I'm getting all sorts of names thrown at me but I want to be very selective and careful about who we bring in.
"I know there are three or four out there that I would think would enhance the squad just now, but I'm looking for something a wee bit special and I will keep my powder dry at the moment.
"I'm also aware that you don't want to miss anything if there's something available there right now, but we need to do our homework.
"We try and sift through what we feel is going to be beneficial to the team and we'll discard the rest, but there will be other signings."
