Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor Targeted By Italian Giants AC Milan After Dzeko Transfer Fails

AC Milan are talking with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger concerning the possible transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor to the San Siro. Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed that he has talked to Wenger about the possible signing of the Togolese striker.

The Rossoneri’s first-choice option is Wolfsburg’s Bosnian frontman Edin Dzeko, but the Bundesliga champions insist that he is not for sale, prompting the Milan side to look for alternatives. Galliani confirmed on Thursday their interest in Adebayor and it now seems that the Serie A side will step up their pursuit of the 25-year-old striker.

"We wrote to Wolfsburg and they responded that he (Dzeko) is not for sale,” said Galliani. “If Wolfsburg change their minds we have agreed they will call Milan. If they do I am ready to immediately leave and go there.

"There's no fee yet, at the moment Dzeko is not for sale. If he becomes for sale then we will start talking sums.”

"Adebayor and Luis Fabiano (Sevilla forward) are the alternatives. For Adebayor there has been a telephone call, during which Wenger was friendly,” added Galliani.

Adebayor‘s future at Arsenal has been in doubt since last summer when both Milan and Barcelona were linked with a £30 million move for the player. However, he remained at The Emirates, signing a new long-term contract to end speculation of any potential departure.

But an injury-dogged 2008-09 season saw him score only half the 30-goal tally of the previous campaign, prompting speculation that Wenger would be happy to consider any suitable offer.
