Man Utd To Offer Atletico Madrid Berbatov, Plus Cash Deal To Seal Transfer Of Argentina Star Aguero?

Manchester United are preparing to offer Atlético Madrid £17.1m, plus Bulgarian International Striker Dimitar Berbatov for the transfer of Argentinian international striker Sergio Aguero, reports Spanish daily AS.

The Red Devils are thought to have instigated an earlier bid of £34million plus Portuguese winger Nani, which was refused by Atletico, as they are not interested in acquiring the former Sporting Lisbon man.

Manchester Utd are thought to have started talks with the players management company last month, with Aguero's demands of £200,000 a week wage after tax the main stumbling block.

However, with both clubs yet to meet each other in their respective valuations, United believe they have room for manoeuvre.

Los Colchoneros have placed a £55million buy-out close on the 21-year-old striker’s head, in a bid to attract only serious bidders. The players club will not accept any fee below their valuation of the player, particularly in light of the fact that Man Utd have pocketed £80m from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Should the transfer move materialise, it is likely to bring an end to a mixed relationship with the Old Trafford faithful for ex-Spurs man Berbatov, whose verdict still remains out.

The 28-year-old Bulgarian striker has attracted criticism among United fans for his languid style of play and his goal return rate of 9 premiership goals in 31 appearances following his £30.75million move from White Hart Lane on transfer deadline day last summer.
