FULL-TIME REPORT: FULHAM 3-0 BLACKBURN: Dempsey Double Moves Cottagers Up To 10th

Fulham have beaten Blackburn Rovers 3-0 in their Premier League match at Craven Cottage on Wednesday evening.

The game started very tamely, with neither side making any real attempts on goal in the opening quarter of the match, but with Blackburn shading the possession in the early stages.

But Fulham commanded the match after they took the lead in the 43rd minute with a strike from Eric Nevland, with Clint Dempsey scoring two second-half goals to give The Cottagers the three points.

Fulham who were without midfielder Danny Murphy (knee) and striker Andrew Johnson (groin) for the match commanded the second half of the match and thoroughly deserved to extend the lead.

It was U.S striker Clint Dempsey who sealed the win in the second period, scoring two goals to give Roy Hodgson’s side a valuable win.

The first from Dempsey came in the 67th minute after the American International forward latched on to a cross from Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff to knock home past Paul Robinson from close-range to make it 2-0.

Dempsey sealed the win in the 88th minute, striking home a Simon Davies cross from close-range to make it 3-0 and moving Fulham up to 10th place in the English Premier League.

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce, who is currently waiting to undergo heart surgery, will be upset by the scoreline after such a good result against Bolton at the weekend, with his side having failed to show any cohesion in the second-half, and letting Fulham win easily.
