FULL-TIME REPORT: HULL CITY 3-2 EVERTON - Tigers Secure Win Despite Late Everton Rally

Hull City have beaten Everton 3-2 in their Premier League match at the KC Stadium on Wednesday evening, despite a decent comeback from Everton in the second-half.

Stephen Hunt opened the scoring for Hull City in the 9th minute as the home-side took control of the match.

Andy Dawson doubled the score in the 20th minute, and Dean Marney made it 3-0 just before the half-hour mark to give Phil Brown’s side a well deserved lead at the break.

But Everton came out for the second-half with far more intent, and pulled two goals back within twenty minutes of the second-half.

Kamil Zayatte scored an own-goal minutes after the restart, with Louis Saha making it 3-2 from the penalty-spot in the 65th minute.

Hull City started with Geovanni and Josy Altidore in attack, but Hull boss Phil Brown was without Jimmy Bullard through injury and without Bernard Mendy, who is suspended for the match.

Everton started with Yakubu and Louis Saha in attack, with Tim Cahill and Jack Rodwell in support.

The home-side commanded the first-half of the match from the starting whistle and took the lead early-on.

A Stephen Hunt cross confused the Toffees defence, who failed to deal with it, with Jozy Altidore shooting straight at Everton keeper Tim Howard, with his parry falling into the path of Hunt, who was on hand to lash home the rebound to make it 1-0.

Hull were controversially awarded a free-kick on the edge of their area which led to Hull City’s second goal when Andy Dawson curled in a magnificent shot into the top left-hand corner of Tim Howard's net to make it 2-0 to The Tigers.

Dean Marney made it 3-0 in the 28th minute, with Stephen Hunt this time the provider and Marney slotting home from close range to make it 3-0 at the break.

The second-half was a different story, with Everton coming out with far more intent and giving a torrid time for Tigers boss Phil Brown and especially Guinean International defender Kamil Zayatte in the early stages of the second-half.

Firstly Zayatte scored an own-goal minutes after the restart, netting past his keeper from 12-yards to make it 3-1, while just after the hour-mark he brought down Louis Saha in the penalty area, receiving a yellow card in the process.

Saha stepped up to take the spot-kick to pull a second goal back for Everton, sending Matt Duke the wrong way to make it 3-2 to David Moyes’ side.

Everton continued to press for an equaliser, with a string of corners defended well by the home-side, with Matt Duke doing well to block shots from the visitors.

The match finished 3-2 to Hull City who, despite the rally from Everton in the second-half, deserved the win overall and now move up to 15th place in the league, with 15 points.

Everton remain a place ahead of Hull, with 15 points from their 13 matches so far.
